Designed by Sebastian Fenwick, the Himalayan Onyx Bathtub is conceived as a singular architectural object, hand-carved from an individually selected slab of natural onyx.

Himalayan onyx is distinguished by its honey, amber and rose banding — a record of mineral deposits laid down over millions of years in Pakistan's mountains. Material of sufficient scale and translucency to create a full-size bathtub is exceptionally rare, making the selection of each piece an important part of the commission.

Fenwick's approach preserves the contrast between the stone's dense mineral banding and its luminous, polished interior. The outer surface retains a more elemental, geological character, while the bathing surface is polished by hand until the veining glows from within.

Each bath is produced to order by Crystal Baths and considered individually, from material selection through to proportion, dimensions and finish. The natural formation of the stone determines much of the final character, ensuring that no two Himalayan Onyx Baths can ever be identical.
